2010

After a terrible 2009 on and off the court, the Miami Heat take a completely revamped roster into 2010. The Heat's off season was bound to be an interesting when they only had 2 players under contract past 2009; and of course, the possibility of D. Wade opting out and leaving Miami devastated. J. O'neal was among the many Heat players to refuse to sign back with Miami after a season that put the Heat in the lottery. But, Miami can breathe now that Dwayne Wade accepted his player option and will play for the Heat in '10. The Heat stockpiled draft picks in a draft where the rookie crop looks great. Mario Chalmers, involved in another marijuana incident with Miami Police, was traded for a late first round pick. The Heat enter 2010 with a very young and talented team of guards and athletic forwards. John Wall is expected to take the starting point guard position and a lot will be put on the young rookie's shoulder. The biggest question surrounding the team is the lack of skill inside. Rookie Greg Monroe may be forced to play center and he should struggle if that is the case. The only real other option is starting Ryan Hollins, who has proved nothing in his NBA career.
